Sholeh Abghari Art Gallery is pleased to announce “Waterlilies & Tulips” by Darius Yektai and Zhuang Hong Yi. The exhibition showcases the works of two artists inspired by one of the most beautiful aspects of nature, flowers.

Waterlilies & Tulips

The gallery is willing to bring them together where their works will be mixed and the space will become a floral journey through the different techniques, media and colours of each works.

Darius Yektai, in his works he begins by laying down paint in a thick impasto – deft, economical, richly sculptural approximations of Monet’s blurry coloristic scenes. Next, he lays the painting flat and floods it with thousands of dollars worth of varnish, submerging the image in a frozen resin lake. You see the image with double or even tiple vision, a rich and vibrant conversation of which you, the viewer, are either a participant or not.

Zhuang Hong Yi, his works are very influenced by the landscapes of Dutch land, they are made from delicate pieces of rice paper and a mixture of pigment, oil and acrylic paints, which he has folded into hundreds of tiny buds that’s subtly shift colours as you move your body and eyes from one side of the work to the other. The floral hybrids evince an artist with genuine sensibility – the painstaking process of folded rice paper layered with acrylic and oil paint belies an almost ascetic level of discipline.
